Cyclone Men Picked Eighth in Big 12

Iowa State is picked to finish eighth in the Big 12's preseason men's basketball poll.

The Cyclones finished 15-17 last season and 4-12 in league play. But Iowa State returns first-team All-Big 12 forward Craig Brackins, and junior college forward Marquis Gilstrap was selected as the league's preseason Newcomer of the Year.

Kansas is a unanimous pick to win the Big 12 title, followed by Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas State.

Texas A&M, Oklahoma State and Missouri are ranked fifth through seventh, followed by Iowa State.

The poll was conducted by the league's head coaches.

Iowa State opens its season at home against Idaho State on Nov. 13.
