Home for sale to benefit Habitat for Humanity

LA PORTE (KWWL) -- There's a great deal to be had on an eastern Iowa home, and it's all going to a good cause.

607 West First Street in La Porte City was donated to the Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity by Cuna Mutual.  It has five bedrooms, four baths, and 4,000 square feet, making it just too big for a habitat family to move in.

That means it will be sold with the proceeds going to help build other habitat homes.  Before it goes up for sale, however, realtors spent Wednesday cleaning.

"We just took possession of the property so it will be listed next week. So we just came out here to do some sprucing up in the yard and inside to get it ready for a new family," Oakridge Realtor Jennie Plummer said.

The house goes up for sale next week.  It's listed at $95,000.  Several years ago, before being donated, it was listed at around $180,000.

Call Oakridge Realtors, or Nooren Realtors if you're interested.
