$500,000 stolen property at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque

DUBUQUE (KWWL) - The Dubuque Police department is reporting at theft from Mercy Hospital in Dubuque.  More than $500,000 of property has been taken from Mercy without permission.   Police say those numbers could change pending further investigation. The property was stolen over the course of three years and was detected internally and later turned over to police for investigation.

Given the large number, this theft is considered substantial, felony level.  Pending charges (individual theft or all the items together) the thief could face a Class C felony charge. Police say they are still trying to track down all the property.

Lieutenant Scott Baxter with the Dubuque Police Department says they have a person of interest but no arrests have been made.  If you have any information regarding the stolen property you are asked to call the Dubuque Police Department.
