Closing Arguments in Deere & Co. retirees lawsuit

DAVENPORT (KWWL) - Closing arguments were heard Tuesday in the federal lawsuit over health benefits filed by a group of Deere & Co. retirees against the Moline manufacturer.

Each side got to two hours to wrap up their case in federal court in Davenport. The president of FRO or Flex Retirees Organization says its been tough to fight against a company they thought they were family with.

FRO is the grassroots organization that formed after Deere changed the health benefits program. It is the driving force behind the class-action lawsuit, which was filed by eight retirees.

After the arguments are over, the judge will start deliberations.

This case dates back to 2007 -- when the company announced changes to its health care coverage for some of its retirees.

The retired workers are fighting to get their original benefits restored.
