Salvation Army giving away coats - KWWL - Eastern Iowa Breaking News, Weather, Closings

Salvation Army giving away coats

WATERLOO (KWWL) - The cold weather seems to have jumped up on us this year, and many closets were unprepared for the chill.

The Salvation Army's coat giveaway is now underway in Waterloo.

The giveaway runs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., and 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Anyone who needs a coat needs to bring an i.d. and a social security card.

4-H members helped make hats and scarves, but coats are made available entirely through donations.

Judy Gilstrap, who helps put on the giveaway, said, "We really appreciate anyone who has an extra gently used, or new coat they can donate. We could use them."

Several dozen coats have already been donated.
You can bring coats to the Franklin Street office in Waterloo.
