by Danielle Wagner

NASHUA (KWWL) An author and herpetologist, someone who studies reptiles and amphibians, spoke to students at Nashua-Plainfield Elementary School Monday.

David Nieves is from Nebraska and attended Iowa State University. So far, he's written two children's books on reptiles.

In Nashua Monday morning he showed off some animals including a lizard and python. Besides sharing information about animals, he also stressed the importance of writing.

"Writing skills are such an important lynch pin for education these days and that any way we can get students excited about writing whatever it takes you gotta do it because they really need to learn this skill," said David Nieves.

You can listen to Nieves speak Monday night at 6:30 at the Nashua-Plainfield High School. We'll have more on his talk with students in a future You've Got Class segment.
