Delay in vehicular homicide trial of man

DES MOINES (AP) -- The trial of a man charged with vehicular homicide in the death of a pregnant woman has been postponed until Nov. 2.

Twenty-three-year-old Kristian Jamak is charged with reckless vehicular homicide and serious injury by a vehicle in the July 11 accident that killed 25-year-old Olivia Rogowski of Des Moines. His trial was scheduled to get under way Monday in Polk County District Court.

Des Moines police say Jamak was driving a sport utility vehicle when he ran a stop sign and crashed into a car in which Rogowski was a passenger.

The driver of the, 37-year-old Irena Boone of Des Moines was treated at a local hospital after the accident.

Police said Jamak lied to officers, claiming the driver of the vehicle ran away.
