Head of Iowa nursing home admin board resigns

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- The chairman of the state board that licenses Iowa's nursing home administrators has stepped down.

A spokesman for Governor Chet Culver says Daniel Larmore resigned Friday during a meeting with Culver's chief of staff.

A spokesman says John Frew asked Larmore to resign, and he complied.

Larmore was on the board for six years and chairman for 15 months.

Larmore is being accused of mishandling misconduct allegations at nursing homes, including ones he oversaw.

Larmore is also not currently employed as a nursing home administrator, as required by state law.
