Council Bluffs crash injures deputy and 3 others

COUNCIL BLUFFS (AP) -- Four people have been injured in a late-night crash in Council Bluffs between a car and a Pottawattamie County deputy.

Council Bluffs police say the crash happened just before midnight Friday when a car veered into the oncoming traffic on 23rd Street and hit head-on with a sheriff's office sport utility vehicle.

Three people in the car and a deputy were injured.

Taken to an Omaha, Neb., hospital were the 21-year-old driver, Travis Scott and passengers Leah Wenninghoff, 20, and Anthony Biggert, 21. Scott and Wenninghoff were in serious condition and Biggert was in stable condition. All are from Council Bluffs.

Deputy Jahn Kirlin was treated for hand and arm injuries.

Council Bluffs police were investigating.
