Jones Regional Medical Center opens for tours

ANAMOSA (KWWL) --One county celebrated the opening of a $12.8 million medical facility.

Jones Regional Medical Center facility opened today for tours.  The hospital will open for use Tuesday, October 13.

The new campus allowed the hospital to expand its outpatient specialty clinics, surgeries and other outpatient procedures. It was also able to add a helipad.

Much of the equipment is new, but some was taken from the old hospital.

"We always had an exceptional staff here at the Jones Regional Hospital, but now we have the facilities to match how great the staff is and also we have state of the art medical equipment so it's a huge asset to the county," Foundation board member Charlie Becker said.

The hospital cost nothing to tax payers.  The expenses were covered through fundraising, the sales of the old hospital, and financing through the Iowa healthcare system.

850 donors raised more than $3 million for the new facility.
