Hotel on bluff in Marquette to be demolished

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- Demolition is expected to begin Monday on a Marquette landmark, the hotel on the bluff.

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved Thursday the demolition of the hotel owned by the Lady Luck Casino. Casino General Manger Todd Steffen said the 25-room hotel, which was built in the 1960s, lacked universal accessibility, since guests had to walk up 14 steps to get to the front office and another flight or two to get to rooms. There were no elevators or ramps.

Lady Luck recently completed a $3 million renovation to its floating casino and pavilion.
