#5 South Winn storms past #6 Denver

Posted:

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- The Denver Cyclones goal of worst to first was dealt a big blow after a 34-21 loss to South Winneshiek Friday night.

The Warriors controlled the tempo most of the night getting 3 first half touchdowns on the ground from quarterback Jordan Andera.  Andera also threw a scoring strike to Logan Einck in the second quarter.  Denver's lone first half score came on a 2 yard run by Aaron Elbert, as the Cyclones trailed by 21 at the break.

South Winn would get a 3rd quarter touchdown run from Dan Sender to take a 34-7 lead in the ballgame.  Denver added a 3rd quarter safety and 2 4th quarter touchdowns to their tally to close the gap and pull within 13 before the final horn.

The loss is the first of the season for the Cyclones (6-1), while South Winn (7-0) remains undefeated and takes control of their own destiny in the district title hunt.
