New Hampton takes on West Delaware

NEW HAMPTON (KWWL) -- After losing its first two non-district games to 3A's second ranked Clear Lake and to 2A's second ranked North Fayette, New Hampton has won all four of its district games and is in sole possession of first place.

West Delaware comes in with just one loss, to Decorah and in this week's Friday night game the West Delaware Hawks came out firing with Quarterback Brett Yonkovic handing it off to number six Jordan Mangold who steps and let's it sail to Yonkovic who ran a deep route for a quick 24-yard gain.

The drive would stall and neither team would get things going for the first two possessions until the Chickasaws would make a "HIT" of the week with Yonkovic getting slammed to the ground.

Two plays later Yonkovic steps back to pass and throws an interception to number 28 Blaine Hagman for the Chickasaws. This would set up a six play 32-ard drive for New Hampton capped off with Quarterback Garrett Hogeland calling his own number for a touchdown, making the score seven zip with the extra point good.

The Hawks would then go three and out allowing the Chickasaws to take the ball to the house once again with number 25 Brock Boeding running it in from 25-yards out making the score 14 to zero and that score would hold up through halftime. The Chickasaws would tack on two more touchdowns in the second half...Final Score: New Hampton 28 West Delaware 7.
