UPDATE: Iowa City homicide victim identified


IOWA CITY (KWWL) - Iowa City Police and the Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating a suspicious death at an Iowa City apartment complex. 

Investigators have ruled this death a homicide.

Police have also identified the victim.

Investigators say the man killed is 64-year-old John Versypt of Cordova, Illinois.

Authorities said that Versypt owned several apartment units at the Broadway Condominiums.

Iowa City Police say they were called to 1958 Broadway around 4 p.m. Thursday.  They say they found a body in the hallway of Building C. 

A gun was found near the body. Police aren't releasing the man's name pending notification of family.
