Schools teach students about flu

DUNKERTON (KWWL) -- Like large schools, small schools are preparing their students for an outbreak of the flu.

The Dunerkton community school district is taking an educational approach -- teaching students about the signs and symptoms and how to prevent spreading germs.

"We're really concentrating on the three Cs -- that's from the information we received from the Iowa Department of Public Health office and the Black Hawk County Health Department," said Jim Stranton, Superintendent at Dunkerton. "We're practicing the three Cs which is cover your cough, clean your hands, and contain your germs."

The Dunkerton school district has not seen an increase in absences. Their numbers right now are comparable to last year.
