UNI Football Ranked Number One in Poll

Chicago, Ill. - The Gridiron Power Index (GPI), the index ranking for the NCAA Division I FCS and a top indicator of at-large playoff selection debuts for the 2009 season with the University of Northern Iowa in the top spot.

The Colonial Athletic Association, the largest league in the FCS has eight teams in the top 25; the Big Sky, Missouri Valley Football and the Southland Conferences have three each; the Southern, Ohio Valley, and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conferences have two each; and the Great West Conference and Patriot League have one each.

The Final 2009 GPI will be released once all the college football games have been played, in January 2010.
