Hawks Prepare for Homecoming Clash with Michigan

At 5 and 0-- the Hawks should be feeling pretty good-- but a tight victory against unheralded Arkansas State helped keep their egos in check--

Adam Robinson: It kind of opens our eyes to and makes us realize that the game can go either way. We still have a lot of games left tp play.

And the next challenge comes Saturday as the Hawks face a highly explosive, new look Michigan team, featuring a fast moving spread offense implemented by head coach Rich Rodriguez.

Pat Angerer: I don't think they huddle, do they, and that's going to be a challenge for us. Iowa State didn't huddle, so we're going to have to really communicate amongst each other and make sure everybody's on the same page.

That offense helped the Wolverines to overtime a week ago against Michigan State-- but in the end-- it was the Spartans who would hand their rivals their first blemish of the season.

And while this Wolverine team is coming off a loss and hasn't exactly lit the world on fire in recent years, this is still Michigan, and the Hawks say that alone makes this game huge.

Adam Robinson: That's the biggest mistake we could make is jsut thinking their not the same old Michigan team, so we have to keep that mindset, come in, and be ready for a war.

and the good news for the Hawks-- instead of the 100 plus thousand white clad fans that were screaming against them at Penn State 2 weeks ago-- they'll get the support of 70 plus thousand black clad fans on their side this time around

Vandervelde: It's definitely a little nicer than having them on the other side, that's for sure.
