Football players accused of stealing from lockers

CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) -- Four Iowa City football players face felony theft charges for allegedly stealing items from lockers while a game was being played.

The players from Iowa City West are accused of stealing $3,000 in iPods, jewelry, keys, cash and other items from their teammates and Cedar Rapids Washington players late Thursday.

Several players noticed the items were missing and police was called after Iowa City West head coach Brian Sauser ordered players off a bus and later found the stolen items.

The four players, ages 15 and 16 years old, were charged with second-degree theft and taken to the Linn County Juvenile Detention Center.

Iowa City West Athletic Director Marv Reiland would not say what disciplinary measures might be taken by the school.
