Iowa City ReNEWvenation October 17, 18, 24, 25

Iowa City will play host to a unique fundraising event on four dates in October. It's the Iowa City Junior Service League ReNEWvenation fundraiser.

While it's free to the public, keep in mind the event is a fundraiser to benefit Iowa City Junior Service League projects.

ReNEWvenation will take place on consecutive October weekends, beginning October 17 and 18, and the following weekend, October 25 and 25, as part of the Iowa City Homebuilder's New Construction Event.

Below is The Iowa City Junior Service League Press Release announcement, outlining the event.

ReNEWvenation is a unique fundraiser for the Iowa City Junior Service League on October 17-18th and October 24- 25th, 2009 as part of the Iowa City Homebuilder's New Construction Event.  Tickets are $10 to view the two condos featured on 18 Trevose and 23 Newly in Idylwild Subdvision in Iowa City.  While the New Construction Tour is free to the public, the ReNEWvenation event is a fundraising event.  Funds raised from it will benefit Iowa City Junior Service League Projects.

The event will feature two flood-effected condos in the Idylwild Neighborhood of Iowa City and showcase how the community can reuse, recycle, and restore in decorating. The condos will feature interior designers and artists decorating rooms and using items that have been restored or reused, as well as new items from renewable and recyclable resources  . Regeneration Factory, Dwell, Decorum, The Mansion, Jazz it Up!, Hand's Jewelers, Michael Lensing, Stuff Etc, and ReStore are just some of the vendors participating.  Original artwork from Kelsi Fobian, Patrick Muller, and Chris Merkle will also be featured.

Additionally, ICJSL is partnering with B&H Builders , builder of both condos,  and will feature a sale of the items used at the end of the day on Sunday to the public.  The tour will be open on each Saturday 10AM-4PM, and each Sunday Noon to 4PM.  The sale of featured items will run 4PM-6PM Sunday the 25th, with most items available for immediate pickup.

"We are thrilled to be offering this original event to our area.  With the flood still fresh in our minds, we felt it was important to help show off an area that has really bounced back," said Jan Finlayson, event chair.  "This is a great opportunity to see how our local businesses can provide renewable and sustainable resources, as well as keeping items out of the landfill.  Get ready to be inspired!"  Additional information and tips about recycling are available at
