Update: Waterloo laundromat ransacked overnight

WATERLOO (KWWL) - A neighborhood troubled with crime is hit again, this time, vandals hit a business that's served the community for decades. Crawford's Laundromat, on Logan Avenue in Waterloo, was vandalized during the overnight hours.

Police say the vandals broke in the back door, stole groceries, and damaged a number of other items. It was an unwelcoming sight for Barbara Crawford when she arrived at work.

Crawford says she has seen a continuing cycle of vandalism over the years.

"It's getting more vicious like this time. It's like over kill. They just threw stuff all over mostly," said Crawford.

The laundromat is just the start, Common Ground Neighborhood Association President Renee Carson, says there is even worse crime taking place every day.

"We've seen drugs, violence, and gang activity," said Carson.

Despite the damage the Crawfords will stay because they believe in the best of people and they believe in this neighborhood.

"We're going to clean-up and keep on going and let God have the vengeance because we don't need to get even, we're not doing anything to anybody that is wrong or against the law," said Crawford.

"We really need to come together instead of being separate. Instead of one over on this side and one over on the other side, we need to come together and just really mean what we say and not just say it out of our moths but prove it with our actions. Enough is enough," said Carson.

We have also learned that nearby business, Tri-City Clothing was broken into on Monday.
