Hawkeyes prep for Penn State

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Winners of seven straight, the Hawks haven't lost since their win against Penn State last year, and they know if they're going to pull off a repeat performance they're going to have to be at their very best on Saturday.

Last year's game winning field goal off the foot of Daniel Murray ruined Penn State's dream season.  Naturally talk has surfaced about Saturday's game being a chance for revenge for the Nittany Lions.

"I've read a lot about it, some of their players have talked about it, and I think that's natural," says Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz, "You know, I'm sure they're going to want to win the football game.  My guess if they had beaten us last year, if we had missed that field goal, they'd still want to beat us.  I don't think that's going to be a huge factor."

If facing a hungry Nittany Lions team wasn't enough, the Hawks will have to knock off fifth ranked Penn State in front of 109,000 plus at Bever Stadium."

"We're going to have to go out and play and be ready for anything," says Iowa quarterback Ricky Stanzi, "but at the same time we're going to have poise and composure as an offense as a team to go into the environment that we're going into and to be able to execute at a high level."

For the second straight week the Hawkeyes could be missing some key components.  Brian Bulaga, Tony Moeaki, and Derrell Johnson-Koulianos are all listed as day-to-day.  Coach Ferentz says he's not too optimistic they'll play.
