Update: Overnight shooting at Grand Hotel in Waterloo

WATERLOO (KWWL) - A person is injured after being shot outside a Waterloo hotel.

Waterloo police say just after 3 a.m. Sunday, they were called to the hotel on West Mullan after report of a shooting. That's where they found a person shot behind the hotel. That person was taken to a hospital. Police say injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Sunday we talked to the manager of the Grand Hotel. She wouldn't go on camera but says this recent spree of violence is affecting the hotel's business. She says in the last week, many of those guests at the hotel, which serves as an extended stay, have decided to leave after concerns of theft, burglaries and Sunday's incident.

This shooting coming just two days after police were called to this same hotel for an armed robbery. Police say a person staying at the hotel was standing in the parking lot when he was approached by two men -- one armed with a small handgun. Police say the suspects demanded money and ran away. That victim was not harmed.

Police have not released the name of the Sunday's shooting victim and no suspect has been arrested.
