Admission to view the exhibition is free.

You Meet artist Thaddeus Erdahl at his closing Gallery Talk Friday, September 18 at 7:00pm, hosted by the Friends of the Art Center.  This free reception is open to the public and will feature discussion with the artist and light refreshments.  Erdahl will also be hosting a 2-day workshop on September 19 and 20, where participants will have the opportunity to work with the artist in sculpting heads and surreal figures.  The workshop is $50/person, will be held from 1:00-4:00pm each day, and includes all materials and firing.  Pre-registration is required by calling the Waterloo Center for the Arts at (319) 291-4490.

Erdahl's works tend toward the figurative and the surreal, with compelling and sometimes disturbing doses of irony and social commentary.   There are approximately four different bodies of work presented in this exhibition: the figurative sculptures of children, collectively titled "Brief, Amusing Stories", "The Salesmen", "Memory Creatures", and the "Communication Breakdown" series.

Thaddeus Erdahl was born and raised in a La Porte City. He received a Master of Fine Arts (ceramics) from the University of Florida, Gainesville in 2009, a Bachelor of Fine Arts, (ceramics) and Bachelor of Art, (art education) from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls in 2004.

Upon graduating Summa Cum Laude, he substitute taught K-12, was a ceramics instructor and an interim education coordinator at The Hearst Center for Arts, Cedar Falls, IA.
