Resurrection School in Dubuque named Blue Ribbon School


DUBUQUE (KWWL) - Six Iowa schools are getting national recognition Tuesday.  Resurrection in Dubuque joining 300 across the nation (50 private schools) honored in the Blue Ribbon schools Program.

Blue Ribbon Schools recognizes public and private K-12 schools that are either academically superior or have made dramatic gains in student achievement. Tuesday students and teachers celebrated Resurrections success in an all school assembly.

"We're just very proud that we were able to achieve this and that we do work together and have dedicated teachers and parents and administration that supports us," said Marian Furst, music specialist.

Other schools in Iowa include Central Springs Elementary, Earlville Elementary, Horizon Elementary, Nixon Elementary, and West Lyon High School.

Each school's principal and a teacher will go to Washington D.C. in November where they will recieved a plaque and a blue flag.
