Grace earns national honor

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- The U.S. Army does more before 5 a.m. than most people do all day.  On Saturday, Pat Grace did more in one half than some players do all season.

In fact, he only played 3 snaps in the third quarter of UNI's 66-7 massacre of visiting South Dakota.  Yet in that time, he put up numbers big enough to be named a College Sporting News National All-Star for the week.

In his short stint he still managed to throw for 445 yards, 7th all-time in the MVFC conference, adding 4 touchdowns in the air, 3 on the ground, and making a big statement to all of the Panthers future opponents.

"He is managing the game right now the way a quarterback should," says UNI Head Coach Mark Farley, "He needs to read the defense.  He needs to put the ball where it belongs in the opening and not to the player, and whoever's in the opening at that particular time, that's who it goes to, and he's doing that."

The Panthers stay home next Saturday as they take on Saint Francis at 4 p.m. in the UNI-Dome.
