Walking off arthritis pain

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Since walking decreases arthritis pain, the Arthritis Foundation went for a stroll to raise awareness and money.

People brought their pets to Saturday's walk, "Let's Move Together".

According to the Arthritis Foundation, 1 in 5 adults and 300,000 children suffer from arthritis pain.

The Arthritis Foundation encourages people to walk 4 times a week for 30 minutes to decrease stiffness and fatigue.

"There's over 100 different types of Arthritis so I think when people think of Arthritis, they think of Osteoarthritis which is something we will all get if we live long enough," said Arthritis Foundation's Melissa Kramer.

The $15,000 raised will go toward research and aquatic training programs.
