Parkersburg (KWWL) -- Last week it was back to reality for the Falcon football program, without the local, state and national media attention A-P would grind out a hard fought 15-9 win at West Marshall.
On Friday, the Falcons play host to Grundy Center, a team that split its non conference games.
The Falcons would come out soaring this in Parkersburg. A-P would stick to their ground attack for the first touchdown of the evening. Coy Wiegmann would hand off to Alex McDanniel and he was gone for 82 yards. A-P would miss the extra point and go up by six.
The Falcons then would look like a bird of prey, taking to the air. Coy Wiegmann would throw a bomb to Stanley Tuve. The Falcons would go for two and get it and Falcons would go up by 14.
Then A-P would unleash Alex Hornbuckle. Hornbuckle would capitalize on a blocked punt scampering in from five yards out.
The Spartans have a new coach this year A-P alum and former North Tama head coach Brandon Krusey. Krusey is trying to do in Grundy Center what he did for the Redhawks.
Quarterback Taylor Appel would show off his power and hit Trevor Hook in the end zone. With the extra point the Spartans would close the gap, 7 to 21.
A-P would add a fourth and final touchdown. Alex Hornbuckle breaks free and would rumble into the endzone. That would be the final score of the first half and of the game.
The Falcons win 28 to 7.
