Fewer homes in foreclosure in Iowa

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Attorney General Tom Miller says Iowa is losing fewer homes to foreclosure. Miller says only five other states in the country have fewer foreclosures than Iowa. Just two years ago Iowa was 26th on the list.

Miller credits the improvement to the mortgage help hotline. In the last 18-months, the hotline has received 8500 calls and filled out 6600 applications for help. More than half of those people are still in their homes.

If you need help fighting foreclosure, the hotline number is 877-622-4866.
