BELLE PLAINE (KWWL) -  A $96,000 Vision Iowa grant was awarded to Belle Plaine Wednesday for the construction of a new aquatic center.

"This aquatic center will be a great addition to Belle Plaine," said Vision Iowa Board Chairwoman Regenia Bailey. "Construction will start very soon, and residents should be able to enjoy the new facility next summer."

This $2,776,000 project includes the construction of a 6,826-square-foot pool area, a lazy river, water slide, one- and three-meter diving boards, play structures, bathhouse, concession area, mechanical and storage building and sunbathing area.

The award is contingent upon completion of fundraising in 30 days.
