Sports Commission Golf Fundraiser

In just the past four years, the Cedar Valley Sports and Entertainment Commission has helped contribute more than $ 6.5 million to the Cedar Valley economy by supporting more than a dozen area events. The Sports Commission is working to make the entire Cedar Valley region a destination  for events, large and small.

Wednesday, more than thirty teams helped the Sports Commission by taking part in the 4th annual Cedar Valley Sports and Entertainment Commission golf outing fundraiser.

This year's annual fund raising event for the non-profit sports commission held at South Hills for the golfing and The Isle for the dinner and program.

Representing the Waterloo Black Hawks was General Manager Doug Miller. The Black Hawks are among the numerous organizations or events which have benefitted from grants provided by the sports commission over the past 4 years, as the commission works to bring in even more events, says President, Mark Gallagher:

Gallagher says, "We'd like to bring in some major events, like the National Wrestling Coaches Association duals, but we also have alot of events on our mind, and with the economy we've had this year, we are really impressed with the amound of sponsorships we've had. We've had a record year this year, and that speaks to the Community to our board members in their efforts."

The all-volunteer Sports Commission has 21 Board members, and the Comission goal is to help promote economic development through sports tourism.  Find out more about the Cedar Valley Sports and Entertainment Commission online at:
