Healthy eating impact on Breast Cancer

Healthy eating is just one way women may be able to help prevent Breast Cancer.  A report from the World Cancer Research Fund also finds breastfeeding, daily exercise, and keeping alcohol to just one drink a day could prevent as many as 40-percent of breast cancer cases.

It's unclear why obesity increases the risk for breast cancer.

That leaves a majority of cases, though, brought on by heredity.  In fact one of those genes appears to determine whether breast cancer will spread to the brain.

Researchers at the National Cancer Institute say they've identified such a gene using human tissue samples, rather than animal studies.

The gene impacts the fuel tumors need to grow. And if scientists can figure out how to turn off that gene, it could help stunt the spread of breast cancer.
