UPDATE: Crews recover body and truck from Mississippi River

Posted:

EAST DUBUQUE, Ill (KWWL) - Authorities have recovered a body from a submerged truck in the Mississippi River.

According to our coverage partners at the Telegraph-Herald newspaper, a man was pronounced dead at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday morning by paramedics on the scene near the East Dubuque boat ramp, East Dubuque Police Chief Steve O'Connell said.

Officials received reports of a vehicle driving into the river just before 9:00 am. Emergency crews are stationed at the boat ramp next to the Julien Dubuque Bridge.  Several boats and divers had been combing the river for hours, and on land are a wrecker, fire trucks, police cars, and an ambulance. Access to the boat launch and surrounding water is still being restricted.
