Cyclones prep for Thursday night kickoff

AMES (KWWL) -- Monday seemed more like Wednesday for the Iowa State football team.  That's because the Cyclones will open up Thursday night against North Dakota State.

It's the first test for new head coach Paul Rhoads, and with that comes the challenge of helping snap the Cyclones current ten game losing streak.  For players like quarterback Austen Arnaud, that's a main focus.

"That's in the back of everybody's mind and in the pit of their stomach.  We really think that we want to avenge those 10 losses in a row in that game on Thursday, and that's all we're planning to do.  Like I keep telling everybody, it's the next thing."

Defensive lineman Nate Frere agrees.  "Ten losses in a row is not easy to swallow, and I'm just ready to get out there and play some more football and get some wins this season."

Kickoff between Iowa State and North Dakota State is set for 7:06 on Thursday night.
