CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) - The University of Northern Iowa has suspended two running backs ahead of its season opener against the University of Iowa.

Derrick Law is suspended for this weekend's game. Taylor Brookins is suspended indefinitely.

There's no word on what prompted the suspensions.

Brookins saw action last year as a reserve running back. He's a Cedar Falls native and starred at Cedar Falls High School.

Law started in a game last year against Illinois State. He was second on the team in rushing yards. Law's hometown is Kansas City, Missouri.

According to the Cedar Falls Police Department, Law was arrested Saturday morning for tresspassing and public intoxication.

Investigators say they were called to 122 North College Street in Cedar Falls just after 5:00 a.m.  When they arrived, they found Law at the address. Police later determined that Law lived a block down at 317 North College Street.

Lt. Mike Hayes said that Law was arrested and booked at the Black Hawk County Jail.

The Bremer County Sheriff arrested Brookins and two other men at a rural home Saturday and charged them with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
