3 dead after standoff in northeast Tennessee

MOORESBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- Three people are dead following an overnight standoff with police at a barn in rural northeastern Tennessee.

Hawkins County Sheriff's officials told WJHL-TV in Johnson City that two men and a woman were found dead after a 10-hour police standoff that ended around dawn Tuesday.

The incident began Monday night in Mooresburg, about 50 miles northeast of Knoxville.

The TV station reported that investigators believe the shooter is among the dead. There were also some injuries, but details were not immediately available.

A sheriff's dispatcher says officers are still on the scene and would only confirm that the standoff had ended.
