US government settles complaints with Iowa Wendy's

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - The U.S. government has reached a settlement with the owner of six Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers restaurants in Cedar Rapids over alleged violations of the American with Disability Act.

The U.S. attorney's office in Cedar Rapids announced the settlement with Parco Ltd. on Thursday.

Under terms of the agreement, Parco agrees to fix 96 alleged violations of the federal disabilities act, no later than Sept. 30.

The company also will pay a $4,000 fine and $7,000 to Peer Action Disability Support of Cedar Rapids.

The investigation began in 2007 after a complaint was filed about accessibility problems at one of the restaurants. The alleged violations included accessibility problems inside and outside the restaurants, at the counters and self-service areas, in the parking lots and in the restrooms.
