Life expectancy on the rise in America

Americans are living longer than ever before, according to the latest research from the National Center for Health Statistics.

Most Americans live to be nearly 78 years-old. 77.9 to be exact!  That's an increase from the last study conducted in 2006.

Researchers found men live to be roughly 75 years old, women live to be 80.  The death rate in the U.S. all also reached a new record low.  Fewer people died in 2007 than any year before.

The death rate is roughly half what it was 60 years ago.  Heart disease and cancer accounted for nearly half the deaths in 2007.
