First week of school includes severe weather threat

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Students at two eastern Iowan schools were forced to take shelter on Wednesday as severe weather moved through the area.

Students participating in after school activities at Turkey Valley Community Schools were forced to take shelter Wednesday afternoon. Students from South Winneshiek also went to the basement while severe weather passed through the area.

Barn damage was reported in Fredericksburg. Viewers also reported seeing a tornado near West Union.

Any time a Tornado Warning is issued for your area, you should take cover in the lowest part of your home, away from windows.
