Gasoline prices remain stable

Posted:

DES MOINES (KWWL) - Gasoline and oil prices have seen some fluctuation over the past month, but have stayed within a relatively narrow range. "This narrow price range can mostly be attributed to economic recovery news," said Jessica Zopf, Communications Specialist for the Iowa Office of Energy Independence." Over the past month, we have seen both positive and negative economic reports, which have translated into fluctuations in prices."

The August 14th average price of 10 percent ethanol blended mid-grade gasoline in Iowa was $2.49 per gallon, which is 30 percent lower than the August 2008 price of $3.54 per gallon of the same blend. The August 14th average price for diesel in Iowa was $2.63 per gallon, which is 38 percent lower than the August 2008 price of $4.23.
