Moore takes over West High football

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- There's a new sheriff in town in Waterloo.  Coach Lonnie Moore takes over the West High reigns this season following the resignation of Stan Wienke who led the Wahawks to a 3- 6 record in his only season at the helm.

Moore has been an assistant on the West High staff for ten years and says that familiarity with the program has helped his transition into the head coaching jo.

"It's going very well.  It's good to be around here for 10 years, get the experience, and know what's going on," says Moore, "A lot of things that are coming to me are not as bad as someone who's just coming in from somewhere else.  It makes things a lot easier."

West High opens up the 2009 campaign on august 28th at Dubuque Senior.
