Volunteers still needed in Eldora

ELDORA (KWWL) - Cleanup efforts continue in the Hardin County town of Eldora after a storm Sunday with strong winds and hail.

The city will continue volunteer efforts from the Hardin County Fairgrounds through Tuesday, August 18th.
Volunteers should bring gloves, rakes and shovels.

The city projects a minimum of $1,300,000 worth of damages to all City property including roads, vehicles, buildings, parks, and clean up.  This doesn't include damage to public schools, county property and state property in Hardin County.
Some of the damages will be covered by insurance but some will not.

The city is waiting for final word on the total costs and coverage.
Without a Federal declaration, these expenses may have to be paid for by the City.

The city is accepting monetary donations.
They can be mailed to:
City of Eldora
1442 Washington Street
Eldora, IA 50627

Please note that the money should go toward disaster relief.
