Brother and sister attacked


CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - A brother and sister were attacked and robbed while walking along the street.

Cedar Rapids Police say at 1:35 pm, they were called to a disturbance at 1 Ave and 15 St SE. When they arrived, they found four people fighting.

Police say Alfonso Byrd, 20, and Phillip Farmer, 30, both of Hiawatha, were in a vehicle when they stopped and robbed Andre Brock, 21, of Cedar Rapids while he was walking with his sister, Latoya Brock, 20, of Cedar Rapids.

Adnre says they were walking in the 100 blk of 1 St SE when Byrd and Farmer forced him to take his shirt, sweat pants and shoes off and took his cell phone. Brock was left wearing a pair of shorts that were under his sweat pants. Police say Latoya Brock attempted to stop the robbery from occurring and was struck in the head.

Farmer and Byrd were charged with Robbery 2nd and Assault while participating in a felony. Byrd was also charged with Interference with Official Acts while participating in a robbery. Both were taken to Linn County Jail.

Latoya Brock suffered minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital.
