3rd annual Hartman Eco-Triathlon

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) --Nature goers in Cedar Falls had a bit of a survival of the fittest Sunday.

Participants in the Hartman Eco-Triathlon kayaked 3.4 miles, biked 8 miles and ran 3 miles.

This was the 3rd year for the annual event.

Some participants finished within an hour and 25 minutes.

The money raised goes toward Hartman Reserves' environmental education programs.

"We do a number of different kinds of programs.  Tousands of school kids come out every year and participate in our program and we have summer camps and we do partnerships with other organizations--Silos and Smokestacks... go out and visit other sites," said Hartman Reserve Nature Center Director Ed Gruenwald.

More than $2,000 was raised. It will help with supplies, upkeep and salaries.
