Braley applauds Senate passage of additional $2 billion for ‘Cash for Clunkers'


Washington, DC (KWWL) - In a release Rep. Bruce Braley announced his support of the Senate vote to pass an additiong $2 billion in funing to keep the "Cash for Clunkers" program moving.

Braley orginally sponsoured the orginal bill and co-sponsoured the bill that passed.

"I am glad the senate has acted quickly to provide additional funding for Cash for Clunkers. "The Cash for Clunkers program has been a phenomenal success.  Under CARS, the average fuel economy increase from old clunkers to new cars is 61 percent.  83 percent of all trade-in vehicles have been trucks and SUVs.  This $2 billion of funding will keep Cash for Clunkers moving and continue its success story.  I urge the president to quickly sign this legislation into law," Braley said in a press release.
