Wartburg College named one of "Best in Midwest"

WAVERLY (KWWL) - Wartburg College is listed among 158 "Best in the Midwest" colleges on The Princeton Review's Web site feature, "2010 Best Colleges; Region by Region."

"We are gratified that our academic programs continue to receive national recognition," said Dr. Darrel D. Colson, who became president on July 1. "Telling the story of Wartburg's excellence will be a priority as I begin my tenure at Wartburg."

Wartburg has been on the "Best in the Midwest" list for the past several years, putting it in the top 25 percent of the nation's 2,500 four-year colleges. This year's list, posted July 27, cites colleges in 12 Midwestern states, primarily on the basis of excellent academic programs. Selections are based on institutional data, school visits, opinions of college advisers and an 80-question survey of selected students at each college.

A Wartburg student responding to the survey and quoted on the Web site notes that "the academic experience - especially as access to essential equipment and professors go - is phenomenal."
