Dyersville Beckman Championship Rally Falls Just Short

Posted:

DES MOINES (KWWL) - Dyersville Beckman put up a furious late rally, but fell just short in the Class 2A title game falling 11 - 8 against second ranked Fort Dodge Saint Edmond.

Blazers starter Eric DeSousa was chased from the game in the second inning after giving up 8 runs in the second inning as Beckman found themselves in a 8 - 2 hole.  After trailing by as many as 8, the Blazers stormed back scoring 5 unanswered, and threatened in the bottom of the seventh before Saint Edmond put away the final out to hoist the championship trophy.

The title game was the fourth for Beckman in the past decade.  Their last championship came in the 2000 season.
