Northey tours crop damage

FAYETTE (KWWL) -- The total loss of crops from last week's hail storm in could reach well over 100,000,000 dollars according to ag officials.

A number of farmers are dealing with crops splintered and damaged -- many of them, unable to be salvaged.

Friday Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey surveyed the damage in Fayette county and talked with farmers there.  Northey says he understands what the farmers are going through and hopefully a disaster declaration will be made so farmers will be able to at least take out loans to pay for their losses.
