Gov. Culver takes the tracks to Chicago

IOWA CITY (KWWL)-- Iowa could see more passenger trains in the state, but only if state officials get a share of federal rail money.

Sunday, Governor Chet Culver boarded a train to Chicago to attend the Midwest Rail Conference.

He's expected to sign a rail agreement with Illinois Governor Pat Quinn.

Iowa is one of 40 states that has submitted plans that total $102 billion.

There's only $8 billion available.

If in the state, trains from Iowa City and Dubuque could be rolling to Chicago by March 2012.
