Two teens arrested for starting middle school fire

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Two juveniles have been arrested for intentionally setting a storage shed on fire at Taft Middle School in Cedar Rapids on June 12.  Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 6 a.m. and found a storage shed, which was used for sports equipment storage, destroyed by fire.  An adjacent Port-A-Johnny was also a complete fire loss.

Marshall Jensen, age 14, and Quinntin Wise, age 14, both of Cedar Rapids, were charged with Arson - 2nd degree, which is a Class "C" felony.

Investigators say the juveniles set two separate fires.  They say the teens initially placed dried grass into an opening at the base of the shed and ignited it.  Secondly, they piled dried grass in an adjacent Port-A-Johnny, set it on fire and left the scene.  The Port-A-Johnny self-extinguished, but was later destroyed from the shed fire.
