Homecoming planned for Iowa Army National Guard soldiers


JOHNSTON (NEWS RELEASE) -- A community homecoming ceremony for approximately 20 Iowa Army National Guard Soldiers mobilized as part of Operation Enduring Freedom will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 25 at the 734th Regional Support Group Armory, 7105 NW 70th Ave., Camp Dodge, Johnston, Iowa. Local officials and Iowa National Guard leadership will participate, and the public and media are welcome and encouraged to attend the homecoming ceremony.

These Soldiers were mobilized from the following units (unit location in parentheses):

-734th Regional Support Group (Camp Dodge)
-Joint Forces Headquarters (Camp Dodge)
-67th Troop Command (Iowa City)
-2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division (Boone)
-185th Rear Operations Center (Camp Dodge)
-1034th Combat Support Sustainment Battalion (Camp Dodge)
-185th Regional Training Institution (Camp Dodge)

These Soldiers departed Iowa in August 2008, reporting to their mobilization station at Fort Riley, Kan. for additional training and preparation. They then deployed to the Afghanistan theater of operations. In Afghanistan, the soldiers operated as a Regional Corps Advisory Group Embedded Training Team ("ETT"), providing mentorship and advanced training to the Afghan National Army.
